US city holds auction to avoid bankruptcy

Wild West artefacts purchased for a failed museum project auctioned to pay some of Harrisburg’s $600m of debt.

The US city of Harrisburg has auctioned off thousands of historical artefacts in an attempt to avoid bankruptcy.

They came from a collection of Wild West memorabilia collected by a former mayor who spent millions of dollars for a museum that never got off the ground.

Al Jazeera’s Cath Turner reports from Harrisburg.
