Al Jazeera Media Network, a world leader in television news, documentary and sports programming and broadcast, announces the appointment of Paul Johnson to the new role of Executive Director Marketing and Distribution.
Johnson will oversee all of the company’s global marketing, communication and distribution activities, including marketing operations, branding, communications, event management and international partnerships.
In his capacity, he will help drive forward the growth and presence of Al Jazeera’s international footprint and global brand, working closely with all Al Jazeera Media Network Executive Directors, as well as Al Jazeera offices around the world to initiate and manage all communication and distribution relationships with leading global broadcast partners.
Most recently, Paul has been on the executive board and CMO at Endemol Group as well as Director of MIP markets in Cannes for Reed Midem. During his tenure at the helm of the TV division and MIP markets, Reed Midem’s TV business grew nearly 100 per cent. Transactional business at the MIP markets in Cannes exceeds $10bn annually.
Paul will be based in the company’s headquarters in Doha, reporting to Al Jazeera Media Network’s Director General, Ahmed Bin Jassim Al Thani.
