NYC fast-food workers strike for better pay

Hundreds of employees stop work at scores of restaurants, saying $7-$9 per hour is not enough to survive.

About 400 fast food workers in New York City are holding a one-day strike at scores of McDonald’s, Domino’s, Taco Bell and other fast-food restaurants.

Backed by a union coalition, the workers want the city’s fast-food restaurants to pay $15 an hour, arguing they can barely get by on the $7.25-$9 an hour they currently receive.

Numerous restaurants are already closed for the day.
