Colombia coal strike darkens local economy
Miners stick by demands for more pay and benefits, but walkout digs deep into local community.

After three weeks on strike, coal workers in northern Colombia are sticking to their demands.
The miners want better wages, health benefits and more consideration of the mine’s environmental impact.
As the impasse continues, however, it is the local community that is suffering the most.
