Shell denies lying about Nigeria oil spills

Oil giant rejects rights group’s accusations of misinformation and instead blames locals of stealing oil.

Oil giant Shell is denying Amnesty International’s accusations that it is manipulating information about oil spills in Nigeria.

Instead it accuses the local population of stealing oil from pipelines, a charge rejected by locals.
