At 25 per cent, the high level of youth unemployment in France is a big problem – and it is playing prominently in the election campaign.
All the main candidates are trying to convince voters that they have a plan to get young people into jobs.
President Nicolas Sarkozy’s solution is apprenticeships. But the opposition says that this plan will only sideline troubled teenagers.
