Oil city workers see Putin as safe choice

Continuing his journey across Russia on the Trans-Siberian railway, Al Jazeera’s Jonah Hull meets workers in the Siberian oil city of Tyumen, where many say they see Vladimir Putin as the safe choice in Sunday’s presidential elections.

Tyumen is an administrative centre for Russia’s principle export product, where executives gather and workers produced the mechanics of the oil business.

Having survived the collapse of the Soviet Union, the upheaval of the 1990s and the oil boom years since 2000, workers strive for better salaries but show little desire for a change of leadership, our correspondent reports.
