Europe’s Vega rocket ventures into space

New lightweight spacecraft was designed to carry European observation satellites into orbit.

Europe has successfully launched its lightweight Vega rocket from the Kourou base in French Guiana.

The new rocket is meant to provide a safe, reliable and competitive means to carry observation satellites into orbit.

More than $1.3bn has been invested in the Vega programme, with the aim of providing European nations with access to space.
