Ben Ali’s riches go to auction

Some of the high-end trappings of the Tunisia’s fallen dictator are being put up for sale.

He ruled Tunisia for a quarter of a century, and was the first leader to be ousted in the Arab Spring, almost two years ago.

Now Former President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali’s ill-gotten gains are going under the hammer, and auction organisers say customers can buy some of the high-end electronics, or part of the Ben Ali family’s other personal items, such as jewellery or luxury cars.

It is hoped the sales of the items will raise millions for the country’s struggling economy.

Al Jazeera’s Dominic Kane reports.
