No deal reached at UN internet summit

US and EU block proposals by Russia, China and some Arab countries that sought government role in controlling web.

UN backed talks on Internet regulation have collapsed after nearly two weeks in Dubai.

Some countries had been campaigning for global oversight of the web, but the US and EU refused to sign the deal.

Those countries that don’t sign the new treaty will see no change to the way internet runs, but those that do could see moves towards more government control.

Al Jazeera’s Tarek Bazley reports.
