US military spending in question

Budgeting for bombers and spending on soldiers are key issues in an election dominated by the economy.

Whoever wins the top job at the White House next week will also hold the title of commander-in-chief of the United States armed forces.

And while the economy remains the top issue for most voters, the incoming president will still face a number of critical defence challenges – such as how to pay for the country’s military muscle.
