A fiery speech by Australia’s Prime Minister Julia Gillard has prompted a debate on sexist attitudes in the country.
Critics say the bout of alleged sexism at the very top of the government in Canberra is representative of wider sexism in Australian society.
The World Economic Forum ranks Australia 23rd in terms of the ‘gender equality’ – only one spot above Burundi.
