Unemployment rising for Egypt’s youth

Women are worst affected, with more than half of female university graduates unemployed.

Egypt youth unemployment

In Egypt, new government figures show that unemployment among young people has risen since the revolution.

More than 20 per cent of youth have no jobs. And for women with university degrees, the figure is more than 55 per cent.

Some experts call youth unemployment in the Middle East a ticking time bomb. And among those who are educated and jobless, many say they will emigrate if the situation does not improve.
