World food prices in crisis

Oxfam says prices of staples could double by 2030 due to rising demand and climate change.

Food prices could double

The price of some key food staples could double in the next 20 years due to a rising global population and climate change, a British-based international confederation that seeks solutions to poverty, has warned.

In a report released on Tuesday, Oxfam said world hunger was already increasing due to food price inflation and oil price hikes, as well as well as more environmental disasters such as droughts and floods.

Al Jazeera’s Charlie Angela reports on how the rise in prices will hit the world’s poorest the hardest.
