Nicaragua volcano beckons thrill seekers

Travellers from as far away as New Zealand and Europe sled down a 700m mountain of ash in historic city of Leon.

Racing down an active volcano on a wooden board is not everyone’s prefered holiday activity, but it is the latest in extreme sports for thrill seekers.

To try volcano boarding, thousands of travellers are heading to Nicaragua’s second largest city, Leon, better known for its Spanish colonial architecture and legacy.
