Dmitri Medvedev, the Russian president, has warned that “extremists” could grab power in Kyrgyzstan following Sunday’s referendum.

Kyrgyzstan’s electoral commission says more than 90 per cent of voters endorsed the changesthat leader, Roza Otunbayeva, says put the country on the path to democracy.
