As controversy rages over a campaign to

    As the controversy rages over a campaign to rename the historical Persian Gulf, it seems that Google has chosen to take a seat on the fence.

    On Google earth, the waterway dividing the Persian plateau and the Arabian peninsula is named both Persian Gulf AND Arabian Gulf.

    On Google maps, however, the issue is avoided altogether ... the gulf has no name. Not even "The Gulf".

    Meanwhile, the online campaign by the pro-Persian Gulf crowd is spreading.
