His ongoing work spans conflict and health, epidemiology, culturally conscious care, Alzheimer's and dementia care, infectious disease, orthopedic trauma, sleep health, and the intersection of policy, innovative technology, and healthcare delivery. Irfan collaborates with Palestinian medical students and physicians in East Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza in documenting the ongoing healthcare crisis, with a recently published piece in The Lancet titled "Will there be a future for newborns in Gaza?"
