US: FDA approves first cancer drug based on genetics of patient

For decades the promise of manipulating the human genome to fight deadly diseases like cancer has seemed just out of reach.

Now for the first time a cancer therapy has been approved in the United States that It uses the patient’s own immune system to fight the disease.
