Canada win gold in men's ice-hockey

Canada win ice-hockey as Russia take the four-man bobsleigh and earlier the men's 50 km cross-country skiing.

Canada beat Sweden 3-0 to successfully defend their Olympic men's ice hockey title.

Sidney Crosby, Jonathan Toews and Chris Kunitz scored as Canada capped an unbeaten run through the Sochi Olympic tournament to claim their third gold medal in four Winter Games.

Carey Price made 24 saves to record his second straight Olympic shutout.

Finland won the bronze medal on Saturday with a 5-0 win over the United States.

Russia win bobsleigh

Alexander Zubkov has driven Russia to victory in four-man bobsled, making him the sixth pilot to sweep the men's bobsleigh races at an Olympics.

Oskars Melbardis of Latvia drove to the silver medal on Sunday, and 2010 champion Steven Holcomb of Park City, Utah, piloted USA-1 to bronze.

The 39-year-old Zubkov predicted the third run of the competition would decide everything and he was right.

He padded his lead considerably in that heat, and no one could keep pace.

Not long afterward, he enjoyed what was a golden final joyride down the track, clinching the title by 0.09 seconds.

More Russian gold

Russia swept the medals after a dramatic finish to the 50 km cross-country race, with Alexander Legkov edging out compatriots Maxim Vylegzhanin and Ilia Chernousov to claim gold.

Just 0.8 seconds seperated the top three and the result means Russia cannot be caught at the top of the medals table.

Legkov started a breakaway with less than two kilometres to go and was pursued by team mates Vylegzhanin and Chernousov as well as Norway's Martin Johnsrud Sundby.

With 100 metres to go, Legkov increased the pace and crossed the line 0.7 seconds ahead of Vylegzhanin, with Chernousov finishing 0.1 seconds further back to take bronze.

The Russian clean sweep more than doubled their medal tally on the cross-country track. Until Sunday they had won just two silvers in team events.
