• One Palestinian was killed, and at least seven others were wounded in Israeli attacks late this evening across the Gaza Strip.
• Qatar’s Foreign Ministry denied Iranian claims that it is holding captive three fighter pilots whose planes crashed in the early days of the US and Israel’s joint war.
• Gaza civil defence teams recovered the remains of 21 Palestinians today from beneath two homes destroyed by Israeli attacks, and say that they are searching for the remains of 40 more people killed during Israel’s genocidal war.
• Iran reiterated that it has reached an agreement with Oman on a shipping route map for the Strait of Hormuz after weeks of technical negotiations, but that the finer points of a deal with the sultanate were still being finalised.

Cleanup crews are responding along 12 kilometres (7.5 miles) of Omani coastline following an oil spill from the grounded tanker Caroline Bezengi.

Carrying roughly 800,000 barrels of Russian crude, the vessel ran aground near a marine reserve, raising fears of a severe ecological crisis.

Brad Cooper, who oversees the US war effort against Iran, has wrapped up a 10-day tour of six Gulf countries and the USS Abraham Lincoln, the carrier enforcing the naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, CENTCOM said in a statement on X.

On board the Lincoln — his second visit this year — Cooper thanked the crew, calling the deployment one of the most intense of the modern era. The San Diego-based carrier deployed in November, reached the region in January, and has since flown thousands of missions supporting Operation Epic Fury, regional security and the US naval blockade against Iran.

The USS Abraham Lincoln has come into the spotlight amid reports of extreme dissatisfaction among US personnel serving on board.

Al Jazeera’s correspondent reports that the Israeli army has carried out an air strike on the Ali al-Taher ridge, near the UNESCO-listed Beaufort Castle.

The area has seen increased Israeli army activity in recent days and weeks. Israel claims the area has strategic significance and that it is dismantling Hezbollah infrastructure in its bombing.

A Palestinian was killed and seven others injured by Israeli army fire in incidents in the Gaza Strip late Saturday, as Israeli air strikes, artillery shelling and demolitions continued in different parts of the enclave.

A source at the al-Awdah Hospital told Anadolu news agency that Mohammed Bashir Abu Armana was killed after being shot by Israeli forces on 20th Street in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.

In the southern city of Khan Younis, two people wounded by Israeli gunfire were taken to the Nasser Hospital after separate incidents near the Jordanian Hospital in Khan Younis refugee camp and Abu Hamid roundabout, medical sources told Anadolu.

Witnesses said Israeli warplanes carried out air strikes while artillery shelling and heavy gunfire targeted central Khan Younis. The strikes also hit evacuated homes in the Jorat al-Lot area south of the city.

In Gaza City, medical sources said two wounded Palestinians arrived at the Al-Ahli Hospital after Israeli military vehicles opened fire in the Daloul area of the Zeitoun neighbourhood in the southeastern part of the city.

Israeli military vehicles also opened heavy fire east of the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza.

Three Palestinians were injured earlier Saturday in an Israeli strike targeting a motorcycle in Deir el-Balah in central Gaza.

Israeli forces also carried out extensive demolitions in areas under their control in Rafah in southern Gaza and east of Gaza City.

Lebanon’s National News Agency reports that the Israeli army carried out an attack on the outskirts of Wadi Zibqin in the Tyre district.

NNA says artillery fire was used in the attack.

There is no information about casualties or damage that resulted from this attack at this time.

Explosions have been reported in Lebanon’s southern towns of Bint Jbeil and Taybeh, according to the National News Agency, hours after attacks killed at least 11 people.

Drones also targeted the outskirts of the town of al-Mansouri. Artillery shelling was reported in the towns of Sarbin, Barashit, al-Mansouri and Wadi Zibqin.

Three Palestinian families remain trapped in Qusra as settlers cut off water and electricity, leaving food supplies dwindling.

The families’ food and water supplies are dwindling, while roads connecting Palestinians have been blocked.

Al Jazeera’s Nour Odeh has the latest on these families’ ordeal from Qusra in the occupied West Bank:

Israeli settlers have injured five Palestinians in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron in the occupied West Bank, Wafa news agency reports.

Two women and a child were among those injured in the attack, which took place in the Umm al-Khair village of Masafer Yatta.

The area has been featured in the Oscar-winning documentary, No Other Land, which depicts life under Israeli occupation.

Yemeni government forces say at least three Houthi fighters have been killed during drone strikes west of Taiz governorate, in the southwest of the country, according to the Yemen News Agency, controlled by the internationally recognised government of Yemen.

Several others, including field commanders, were wounded in the aerial strikes.

The Houthis have yet to comment on these claims.

Reports of an intensifying mental health crisis on board the USS Abraham Lincoln – deployed at sea for nine months as part of the war with Iran – are an indication of the perceptions around the conflict, said Stephen Zunes from the University of San Francisco.

“US Marines are willing to endure all kinds of difficult conditions if they believe they’re defending the nation,” Zunes told Al Jazeera. “But in this case, they recognise that this war is not in the national interest, that it is not defending the homeland.”

Given that and the logistical problems linked with prolonged deployments at sea, “I’m not surprised there are serious morale issues,” he said.

An oil spill has spread along 12km of coastline in Oman and is threatening fragile marine ecosystems and wildlife habitats.

The tanker Caroline Bezengi was carrying around 800,000 barrels of oil when it ran aground in June and has been leaking for weeks.

Iran’s foreign ministry has condemned Israel’s recent attacks on southern Lebanon which killed 11 people, including children.

Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said Iran “regrets” the international community’s “continued silence and inaction of the United Nations Security Council in the face of blatant violations of international law and international human rights law”.

In the worst attacks since Israel and Lebanon signed a framework agreement to stop fighting in June, homes were destroyed in Ansar, Ali al-Tahir Heights, Nabatieh al-Fouqa and Deir al-Zahran.

He added that Iran stands in solidarity with Lebanon, “in its efforts to defend the country’s national sovereignty, independence, and dignity”, according to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency.

A family displaced from their destroyed home in southern Lebanon sought shelter in another area, believing it would be safer.

But an Israeli air strike killed them there, according to Al Jazeera correspondent Ali Hashem. Reporting from Ansar in southern Lebanon, Hashem says the attack highlights the dilemma facing Lebanon as a ceasefire agreement remains in place on paper, but is not holding for people being killed on the ground.

The Israeli prime minister has expressed gratitude towards Colombia’s newly elected President Abelardo de la Espriella for recognising “Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights and moving his embassy to our eternal capital in Jerusalem.”

In a post on X, Netanyahu said he had congratulated de la Espriella for “his impressive victory” over a phone call.

Colombia this week recognised Israel’s claim of sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, just days after the far-right president took power. The country joins the US as the only other country to recognise Israel’s annexation of the territory in 1981.

A small group of countries has moved their official embassies to Jerusalem, as its status under international law remains disputed. Most nations have their embassies in Tel Aviv.

De la Espriella had pledged to move the embassy to Jerusalem if elected, as he seeks stronger bilateral ties with Israel.

Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reports a “violent” bombing operation carried out by Israel on the town of Tallousa, in the Marjayoun district.
