Libya: election of new central bank chief challenged

Libya’s rival parliaments are at loggerheads again, this time over who should be in charge of the country’s central bank.

The House of Representatives in Tobruk elected a new governor for the bank, but the High State Council of the internationally-backed government in Tripoli has rejected the replacement.

According to the Skhairat agreement, the two governments in Libya are to agree on all major decisions, including the naming of the head of the central bank.
