UN: Saudi blockade of Yemen is 'catastrophic' for aid

At a news briefing in Geneva, a UN spokesperson said the 'situation is catastrophic in Yemen' and claimed the blockade supplies were a 'lifeline' necessary to stave off famine.

The United Nations is warning of a "catastrophic" humanitarian situation in Yemen.

Saudi Arabia has blocked all Yemeni air and land routes, as well as seaports, in response to the missile attack from across the border earlier this week.

The embargo is driving up the already inflated prices of vital commodities and is also stopping much-needed humanitarian aid that keeps an estimated seven million from the brink of famine.
