A global exhibition of award-winning news photos aims to show people the world's most pressing issues, from the uplifting to the unnerving.

Gripping images of the moment an assassination happened, a beautiful sea turtle trapped in a fishing net, and the human side to protests that ruled the news all aimed to make viewers think about the contrasts that exist behind the headlines.

The gallery will be shown in more than 100 cities across the world, with its first stop in Washington, DC.

Al Jazeera's Diane Eastabrook reports from Washington, DC.
