First phase of Nepal elections sees high turnout

More than 60 percent of the over three million registered voters cast their ballots to choose federal parliament and provincial assemblies.

There has been a high turnout in Nepal's parliamentary and provincial elections, which mark the final stage of a peace process that started in 2006. The aim is to turn Nepal into a federal, democratic Republic.
