Presenter: Doha
Can you handle breaking news from around the world? Can you work with the largest video wall in global news? We’re seeking top flight anchors to work in our Doha news centre.

We need top class correspondents to maintain our outstanding international news coverage. International experience preferred.
Executive Producer: Doha
We are looking for strong, decisive leaders to be the senior journalist in our newsroom. You will have experience at the highest levels of journalism.

Programme Editor: Doha
A chance to become one of the senior journalists at Al Jazeera. You will be experienced at handling live events, confident in the control room and comfortable commissioning graphics.

You will need a proven track record of directing, producing and editing in the field and in the studio. You will have sound editorial judgement and be able to show experience in planning complex shooting schedules.

Witness Producer. Doha
This is a key role on the Witness team. You are likely to be a film-maker with a strong editorial eye. You will be responsible for acquiring and commissioning films, and nurturing new talent.

Producer (Presenter) Witness: London –
You will have a good eye for a story and be able to build teams and work with presenter talent
Producer (Studio) You will have a strong track record working with presenters and must be able to work under pressure in the studio. Extensive post-production experience essential.

APs/Researchers: Doha, Kuala Lumpur, Washington DC, London
Experienced APs and Researchers with a track record of generating and researching factual and current affairs stories. You will have a proven ability to set up stories anywhere in the world, often at short notice.

Web Producer, Programmes: Doha
Based in the programme department, this will involve gathering, editing and organising website content for all AJE’s programmes. You will have a background in web-based content management systems, excellent sub-editing and administrative skills.

Planning Producer, Programmes: Doha
Based in the programme department, this involves liaising with the News planning team to maintain a diary of future events. You will also support field programme teams working alongside news crews. TV experience required.

Archive Producer: Doha, Kuala Lumpur, Washington DC, London
You will have a reputation for sourcing exceptional picture and archive for documentary and current affairs programming. With experience in rights negotiation and good organizational skills, you will manage the acquisition process from selection to contract and delivery.

Editor: Kuala Lumpur
An established programme maker to take a lead role in a new weekly show. You have a reputation for innovative, high quality current affairs programming. Live studio, team management skills and budgeting skills essential.

Senior Programme Scheduler: Doha
This is a broad-ranging role that would suit a confident and experienced scheduler with some line management experience. You will have experience in building and managing a programme database and schedule grid using industry standard scheduling software. You will also have experience of scheduling for a server-based transmission system and creating reports using external reporting packages.

Financial Controller-Europe plus (Based in London)
We are looking for an effective team leader with a clear understanding of what it takes to be successful; the individual holding this position should have excellent communications abilities, strong interpersonal and financial skills that are consistent with the organisation’s culture.

Reporting into the Group Financial Controller in Doha, you are required to work closely with the senior management team in London, the bureaux and Doha. Travel to Doha and other broadcast centres in Washington and Kuala Lumpur may be required from time-to-time.
The Financial Controller will also:
  • Be able to create a vision and goals that inspires and motivates the finance team; they should be result-oriented and able to help other team members improve their performance.
  • Be a facilitator who can bring together the necessary tools, information, and resources for the finance team to operate effectively and efficiently; they should understand the big picture and be able to identify potential opportunities and threats to the organisation as a result of changes in the business environment.
  • Be able to teach other team members and help them develop to their fullest potential while maintaining an appropriate balance of authority and accountability; they should be a role model who is able to “walk the talk” and demonstrate the type of behavior and professionalism desired from finance team members.
Duties will include:
  • Define, develop and implement Finance/Accounting plans, policies and procedures in line with corporate Finance strategy in order to support the achievement of overall business objectives.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of plans, policies and procedures through leadership of a specialist Finance Department team – setting goals and objectives, managing performance, developing and motivating employees – in order to ensure the highest levels of performance are achieved.
  • Assist and monitor all aspects of the Finance Department including but not limited to AP, AR, payroll and GL.
  • Provide high-level, strategic consultative advice as required to other business area senior managers to allow the realisation of cost saving or efficiency opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with other departments and senior business management as well as external agencies and service providers in order to understand ongoing business activities and the impact on the financial management and support the smooth provision of finance / accounting services across the organisation and promote the image of the Company externally.
  • Maintain an awareness of best practice techniques and tools in the area of financial management so the department optimises efficiency, levels of service and quality of output.
  • Maintain on-going awareness of statutory and legal requirements and ensure these are communicated to the related employees.
  • Attend and contribute to business planning in order to communicate effectively within the organisation and provide financial/accounting input and support to overall business decision-making 
  • Manage and control the production and submission a monthly financial statement package according to stated schedules so that the company complies with statutory reporting requirements and senior managers in other business areas are accurately apprised of financial performance. 
  • Liaise with external bodies and representatives (e.g. regulatory authorities, external auditors, Group company representatives) as required to ensure that any queries are answered in a prompt and efficient manner. 
  • Coordinate completion of internal and annual statutory audits
  • Establish and maintain a system for monitoring and protecting fixed assets.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Commerce and ACCA/CPA qualified with at least 5 years post qualification experience in a senior finance role and knowledge and experience of working in the media/broadcasting industry.
  • Must also have working knowledge of Microsoft Great Plains accounting system.
  • You will have also managed a team of finance staff and be able to demonstrate motivational, leadership and inspiration skills to develop those who report into this role.
