UK Prime Minister Theresa May has called for a strong response to an attack at London Bridge that left seven dead.

Speaking after a meeting of the government's emergency Cobra committee, she warned that extremism would no longer be tolerated in the UK and safe spaces for extremism online would be eradicated.

Her statement came amid a temporary suspension of campaigning for Thursday's general election.
