US Republican charged with assault after body-slamming reporter

Greg Gianforte, a Republican running for a seat in the US House of Representatives, has been charged with assault.

He was accused of attacking a reporter from The Guardian newspaper, which is based in the United Kingdom.

House speaker Paul Ryan has called for Greg Gianforte to apologise for the alleged assault.
