Bulgarians have voted in a snap general election and the result could tilt the country closer to Russia. A decade after joining the European Union, Bulgaria remains its poorest state and corruption is rife.

    It's widely predicted that nationalist and populist parties could emerge as so-called "kingmakers" in a new coalition government.
