The Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has toughened laws against Palestinians selling land to Israeli settlers.
Israelis are increasingly acquiring more buildings in a hotly disputed area of Jerusalem.
Since last month, Jewish settlers have taken over several properties in the Arab neighbourhoods, provoking anger and resentment among Palestinians.
