Hollywood is preparing to host the 86th Academy Awards, the Oscars, in Los Angeles. 

For the first time in the academy's history, a Palestinian-funded movie has been nominated in the foreign film category with 'Palestine' as the country of origin.

Al Jazeera's Kristen Saloomey reports from New York.
