Iran has unveiled a new stealth fighter jet it says was designed and built domestically.

The government says it is proof of sophisticated military advances, but is meant only for self-defence.

The announcement followed news that Tehran successfully sent a monkey into space, which stirred questions on the internet, with people pointing to differences between official images of the primate before and after landing.

Al Jazeera's Gerald Tan reports.
