Germany’s pilot strike grounds flights

One-day walkout at Frankfurt airport by Lufthansa’s long-haul pilots forces 1,500 flights to be cancelled.

The German airline Lufthansa has been hit by another 24 hour strike, the latest in a series of walkouts over  retirement benefits.

A German court has refused to declare the strikes illegal even though the transport minister says they’re killing the economy.
