The French capital, Paris, has been facing a housing crisis, with not enough rental properties to go round.

Huge demand has led rent prices to soar, and an increase in the number of people living in cramped, over priced and sometimes un-sanitary conditions.

The crisis is also set to dominate next month's local elections.

Al Jazeera's Simon McGregor-Wood reports from Paris.
