Berlinale 2014 film festival kicks off

Europe is home to the world's top film festivals, including Berlinale, which started its 64th event with 400 films.

Berlin's 64th International Film Festival has just kicked off, with The Grand Budapest Hotel opening the star-studded event. More than 400 films are being screened there, with 23 competing for the grand prize, The Golden Bear.

The festivals in Berlin, Venice and Cannes have become increasingly important fixtures for the film industry.
