The European Union is pushing for more sea patrols to intercept migrant boats in the Mediterranean.

The call for urgent action comes after more bodies were found off the coast of Italy's Lampedusa island.

About 274 migrants are now confirmed dead after the boat they were traveling in capsized on Thursday. Many more are still missing.

Al Jazeera's Claudio Lavanga reports from Lampedusa.
