Italy's impasse worsens economic woes

Unemployment approaches 12 percent and economy continues to shrink, as political deadlock grinds on.

New financial figures have shown Italy's unemployment rate has risen to almost 12 percent, while the country's economy continues to shrink.

Meanwhile, the government appears unable to tackle these problems.

There situation appears to be worsening due to the political stalemate that has inconclusive parliamentary elections.
