Germany urged to cut public spending

Independent report tells German government to cut public spending to help the economy.

The EU economic crisis is also taking its toll on the bloc's largest economy.

German industrial output fell by more than expected last month.

And now government advisers have lowered their growth forecast for this year, while also calling on the Chancellor, Angela Merkel, to rein in public spending.
