The big Bollywood blockbusters are facing some competition, not from Hollywood, but from independent films made in India.
A new crop of films, most recently this year's the Lunchbox, have drawn rave reviews at international festivals like Cannes, and have attracted crowds at home.
At this year's Mumbai Film Festival, audiences say they like having an alternative to Bollywood.
