India's currency has hit record lows, dropping to an unprecedented rate of 64 against the US dollar. That is a fall of nearly 15 percent since May.

The Indian government is now trying to restore public confidence over fears of an already sluggish economy.

Al Jazeera's Karishma Vyas reports from New Delhi.
