Indian Tamils protest over Sri Lankan abuses

Protesters demand that India take a firm stand against reported Sri Lankan human rights abuses during civil war.

Tamils in India are demanding that India and the international community take a firm stand against Sri Lanka on issues of human rights violations.

Human rights group allege there may have been war crimes committed during the final stages of the civil war in 2009.

The conflict between the majority Sinhalese and minority Tamil groups had been going on for thirty years.

It is believed as many as 40,000 civilians may have died.
