Sri Lanka's government has banned women under 25 from going to Saudi Arabia to work as housemaids.

The decision follows the beheading of a Sri Lankan maid in Saudi Arabia earlier this month. She was convicted of killing a baby in her care.

The government's move, however, could be a blow to the Sri Lankan economy.

Al Jazeera's Minelle Fernandez reports from Colombo.
