The Taliban in Afghanistan seem to be growing bolder, despite an increase in foreign troops.

On Wednesday they attempted to storm a military base at Jalalabad airfield, just east of the capital, Kabul.

A suicide bomber detonated his car at the entrance as fighters clashed with international troops and Afghan security forces.

The fighting lasted for almost an hour before several Taliban fighters were killed.
