Chinese new year: a getaway like no other

Almost four billion trips will be taken over the next 40 days as people travel to their home villages for the holidays.

    Hundreds of millions of Chinese are travelling across the country to their home villages for the Chinese Lunar New Year.

    Close to four billion trips will be taken over the next 40 days, making the spring holiday the biggest migration of people on the planet.

    For most, the annual journey is the only chance to see family members.
