People smuggler faces trial in Indonesia

Afghan national, accused of sending asylum seekers by boat, faces extradition to Australia.

A man believed to be Indonesia’s most active people-smuggler is facing an extradition hearing in Jakarta.

Australia has filed 27 charges against Afghan national Sayed Abbas who is accused of sending asylum seekers to Australia by boat.

Al Jazeera’s Step Vaessen reports from Jakarta.
