US president called for renewed push for gun control legislation during memorial for victims of DC's Navy Yard shooting.

US President Barack Obama has honoured the victims of the navy yard shooting during a memorial service.

The service was held at the marine barracks not far from the navy yard.

Aaron Alexis, a Navy contractor and former Navy reservist, killed 12 people and wounded a dozen more last week.

Al Jazeera's Jeanne Meserve reports from Washington DC.
