Colombia negotiates with striking farmers

President agrees to start negotiations with farmers who are demanding subsidies.

    The Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos has agreed to start negotiations with striking farmers.

    Protests have lasted over a week with farmers blocking major roads across many parts of the country.

    They have been demanding the government provides subsidies for agricultural products and fuel.
