US firefighter recalls 'destruction' of 9/11

Memorial events are being held at the Pentagon outside Washington, DC.

More than 180 people were killed when a hijacked plane crashed into the building on September 11, 2001.

Gregg Karl was among the first responders at the scene as part of the Arlington County Fire Department. He spoke to Al Jazeera about the experience.
