Captured pro-democracy fighters seen being assaulted by government troops.

Al Jazeera has received video which appears to show soldiers loyal to Muammar Gaddafi beating pro-democracy fighters who they had detained.

Filmed on a mobile phone - the video was passed on by a solider who claims he was forced to fight for Gaddafi - but has now run away from the army.

The footage was taken last week during battles near Ajdabiya.

Some people may find the scenes in Alan Fisher's report distressing.
