Kaka's father and chief adviser, Bosco Leite, arrived in Italy to discuss his son's possible record transfer from AC Milan to Manchester City.
Bosco's first order of business was a private meeting with Kaka in the player's downtown home, the ANSA news agency reported.
City has reportedly offered a world record $147 million for the 2007 FIFA World Player of the Year to play in the Premier League.
Italian Premier and Milan president Silvio Berlusconi returned overnight from a Gaza peace summit in Egypt and met with Milan vice president Adriano Galliani for 1½ hours over Kaka, according to ANSA.
Kaka's spokesman, Diogo Kotscho, said the player's father was planning to meet with Milan officials later Monday, adding that there will be no talks with City until after this meeting.
A group of about 300 fans protested outside Milan's downtown offices, chanting "Don't sell Kaka.'' A few flares were lit, but no problems were reported.
Kaka and his father want to confirm with Milan whether City's offer has been accepted and if he can negotiate with the English club.
There has been speculation that Kaka's camp will ask for a revision of his contract with Milan if he stays, although he is already the highest paid player for the Rossoneri at $12 million per season, and Milan does not appear inclined to accept such a request.
Milan's other Brazil stars earn much less, Ronaldinho $5.3 million and Alexandre Pato $2.7 million, and Milan fears that if it restructures Kaka's contract, other players will want to follow suit.
The 26-year-old Kaka is under contract with Milan through 2013.

De Jong signs on
Meanwhile, the big spending club have agreed to sign Netherlands midfielder Nigel de Jong from Hamburg SV pending personal terms, the German club said.
City will pay close to $26.29 million for the 24-year-old former Ajax Amsterdam holding midfielder, according to German media.
"We have had contact with Manchester City and have agreed to release the player if he can strike a deal with the English club," Hamburg spokesman Joern Wolf said.
"Now it is up to the player and his agent to agree on a contract with that team."
De Jong, whose contract with Hamburg expires in 2010, had confirmed late last week he had received an offer and said he still had two weeks to decide before the end of the transfer period.
On Monday he said the deal was far from done.
"I cannot say anything. Nothing is finished," he told reporters upon the team's return from a training camp in Spain.
Hamburg coach Martin Jol said that if the deal went through, the funds would be used to bolster his squad.
"My idea is to take a step back in order to move three steps forward," Jol said.
City, in the bottom of half of the Premier League table, are the richest club in the world after being taken over by the Abu Dhabi United Group.
